Powersim Solutions delivers world-class business simulations utilizing system dynamics
models. These software models "simulate" a business operation over time and are
used both for strategic planning and as a training tool. Powersim Solutions contracted
with WHC to develop a state-of-the-art simulation system that would allow the software
models to be "plugged in" to a standard environment that users can interact with.
The application was written using the latest Microsoft .NET technologies and took
advantage of a number of features offered by Microsoft .NET, namely remote clients
and automatic software updates. This software program, dubbed "ExTrain.NET" is a
Windows Forms application that runs on any machine that can access a central data
portal run either locally, on an intranet or over the Internet. This allows for
a robust application that combines the rich user interface of a Windows Forms application
with the zero deployment costs and single application source of a browser-based
application. |

Institutional Investor News provides investment and financial news and information
through a number of print and web-based publications. II News worked with WHC to
develop a library and research center containing information focusing on hedge funds
as a compliement to their existing website and printed publications on the subject.
The challenge was to build a system that could maintain a wide variety of implicit
and explicit links between the many subtopics related to hedge funds such as legislation
and regulatory documents, hedge fund investors, litigation, contacts, and fund managers.
The result was a system that provided subscribers with quick, ready access to in-depth
information about hedge funds through numerous research paths from simple keyword
searches to boundless links to related information. |

Ecosystems is a leading provider of collaborative ROI and value-selling solutions.
Ecosystems hired WHC to develop a website solution that would allow their clients
to plan and simulate a variety of marketing tactics such as trade shows, direct
mail, banner add and e-mail campaigns. The system utilized a system dynamics model
developed by Ecosystems to simulate how the various marketing initiatives would
perform under user-defined scenarios, allowing the end-user to test the viability
and chances of success before actually going to market. |

CCH is a leading provider of information services, software and workflow tools for
tax, accounting, legal and business professionals. CCH purchased the IPO Vital Signs
system from Corporate Finance Institute (CFI), the company that originally contracted
with WHC to develop a this web-based subscription application for the research and
analysis of initial public offerings (IPO). CFI needed a replacement for a legacy
database that was used to collect data gleaned from IPO prospectuses acquired from
the SEC. The original database contained a number of queries that would generate
aggregate and detail reports in tabular form which were then used to generate data
tables for a printed publication. CFI wanted to instead provide access to the data
over the Internet on a subscription bases to professionals involved in all stages
of the IPO process. The rewrite would include many new analysis tools and means
by which to drill down into detailed data as the user required. |

OneSoft Corporation develops and provides Internet commerce application software
and services that enable their clients to rapidly build, grow, and extend their
online businesses. As part of their strategic services offering, OneSoft developed
a software tool that can simulate an e-commerce business long before it's a reality.
This helps their clients design an intelligent, optimized e-commerce strategy, regardless
of whether they're a dot com or brick-and-mortar business. OneSoft contracted White
Horse Consulting to develop the business logic and user interface that would integrate
with their intelligent e-commerce software model. The prototype would be developed
as a rich client (Windows UI) but needed to fit the design and feel of their existing
Web-based products.
WHC developed a UI that encompassed a Web look-and-feel while providing robust client-side
interaction for data input and reporting. A comprehensive business object model
was built that will allow the application to grow with the underlying e-business
model and is separated sufficiently to support future UIs such as web browsers.
During the course of the project, WHC identified the need for and developed additional
tools for managing the large amount of user input and to support the testing and
debugging of the business software model.
